Elementary Grades 1 - 5

In the first through fifth grades the elementary curriculum continues to build on the strong foundation established in Kindergarten. The formal core curriculum follows the Diocese of Raleigh Catholic Curriculum and Guidelines and the North Carolina Curriculum Standards. The curriculum includes Religion, Reading and Language Arts, Phonics, Math, Science and Social Studies. Students will also participate in electives such as Physical Education, Primary or Choral Music, Suzuki Violin, Art, Library skills, Spanish and Computer Technology. In addition, a computer skills curriculum is taught to prepare students to use computer technology to develop skills integrated throughout the core curriculum in problem solving and data collecting. Our standardized testing program, for grades 2nd and up, consists of the Iowa Test of Basic Skills and CogAt Test.
